In September 2019, we inaugurated our atelier in Londrina (PR), hosted within Instituto Esperança, our institutional partner.
Londrina is a city marked by contrasts: while part of the population has access to opportunities, many women live in vulnerable situations, facing unemployment, domestic violence, and the absence of support networks.
In this context, Instituto Esperança welcomed us institutionally and provided the physical space for the project to come alive. We also received support from UNOPAR (Universidade do Norte do Paraná), which contributed sewing machines for the classes.
Each semester, approximately 60 women attend the atelier, taking part in sewing, embroidery, and crochet courses, along with devotionals and therapeutic groups. We also developed the Garden Program (Programa Jardim), a preventive initiative working with girls aged 14 to 17. Beyond training, we produce in-house items and commissioned work for companies, creating income opportunities for current and former students.
We welcome women in vulnerable situations or survivors of domestic violence, referred to us by organisations such as Associação Água Pura, Prefeitura de Londrina, the Secretariat for Women’s Policies, the Secretariat of Social Assistance, CRAS, ADAMA, NUSELON, Instituto Esperança itself, among others.
More than teaching a skill, the Londrina atelier is a safe space where new stories are written — stories of resilience, autonomy, and hope.
